This is my first time on this forum.

I am trying to find out what the difference is between soft pearls and "regular" pearls?  I am making a cake and my customer wants only soft pearls on the cake..

Thank you for helping me out

Purchased pearls/dragees are necessarily hard.  (Storage, shipping.)  If you have to have soft pearls, then you're going to have to hand make them.  Increase your price accordingly.  That means jack up your price a LOT.

I found it rather easy but time consuming to hand make them.   Would do it while watching t.v.:)   I learned how from Earlene Moore.

Just roll out fondant evenly, use a small round tip say a 3, 4, or 5 (depends on what size pearls you want) to cut rounds using the small end of the tip.  If you lightly dust the rolled out fondant w/flour they will easily come apart when you have cut enough to fill the tip.  Now all you have to do is roll them in your hand, setting them on a pad of paper toweling (fold & stack 3-4 sheets in 1/2) to dry.  The farther ahead you make them, the dryer/harder they get.

Yep, I agree they are not difficult.  I needed 400 navy pearls on time.  Once I got them on the cake, I realized it would have looked even better with 800.  oops.

Well, I did want them to look like pearls, rather than gumballs.   .  .  :-)
