How much would you charge for this cake? She wants it exactly like the picture, minus the bear. It will feed 40 people, 8" and 6".

She wants a coconut cake with cream cheese buttercream and coconut cream filling.

I know I have been undercharging on previous orders so thanks for the help!

First, a 6/8 round will serve 36, and the person cutting the cake had better cut to exact specifications.   (I was assuming there are not four servings of cake in the baby.) It's difficult to tell you what to charge, because we don't know what your costs are.  Do you buy flour and sugar in bulk?  Are the licensing requirements and liability insurance to sell cakes in your area expensive?  What are your utility costs?  If you're asking what I would charge, in my area, it would be in the neighborhood of $250.

Along with what leah said.....are your skills up to doing justice to this design?  I'm only asking because I don't know how well you can reproduce it and not end up on "CakeWrecks" :)  That alone could effect the pricing.

There are sooo many threads on pricing here.......it varies soooooo very much from area to area even within the same state, & county.

Thank you both for your insights. I am a newer baker, self taught. So, I know I wouldn't be able to charge as much as you. Here are a couple cakes I have done

I know I'd pay at least $150 for each of the cakes you provided. They look amazing! So, I'd say charge $150 and up based on all of your expenses!
