Hi, this is the first time that i've ever posted a question here, although i've always found great advice. I've never taken any decor classes, kinda self taught and pick ideas up along the way. This is the first rose that i've ever made. I used the canned Wilton icing, i didn't want to waste a lot of ingredients. The problem that i'm having, is that my rose is droopy. I don't know if there is a trick to this or not, but mine looks like it's gonna fall off the nail, and it slides around alot when i'm trying to do the petals, even though i've put a dot of icing under the paper. If anyone has any advice or tips please share them with me. I will be ever so grateful.

Thanks in Advanvce, Jen

Sounds like your icing is not stiff enough.

I've never used the canned frosting..might try and add a bit of sifted conf. sugar to it..or some meringue powder.

While the Wilton Canned Icing is a decorating icing, and is thicker than the icings you buy in the grocery store, it is only medium consitency. When you make roses you should use stiff icing, which will help keep your flowes upright.

As was said, you will need to add powder sugar to the Wilton Can Icing.

Welcome icon_smile.gif Yes, the canned icing is medium and will soften if over mixed or even with the heat from your hand. You do need to stiffen it up. Also, if your flower is drooping over, make sure your base isn't to skinny or tall to support the petals. Kudos on being self taught thumbs_up.gif

Yes, all that was already said! Plus, when you are learning, a great tip to make roses, is to use a Hershey kiss for the base of the rose. Just put a dot of icing on the nail, attach the kiss & start your rose. For my roses, I use a crisco icing. It holds up much better for just the decorating part.

The Wilton Icing in the can can really vary in consistancy. There are many times I will want to use a can and it is really thin, it cannot even pass for medium. Then, there are other cans that have a stiffer consistancy. My advice is to make stiff icing for roses and not use the can for that.It is really too soft to make roses.
