DANG...these suckers take forever! I just did two and they are alright, but I'm trying to figure out how to make them bigger...they're really tight --small.

Plus, does anyone have any tips or tricks? TWO took me nearly all afternoon!! (I'll post pictures with the cake tomorrow.) Wiped me right now. heh.

If you want bigger flowers, use bigger cutters or templates... Gumpaste flowers are an art and take lots of practice. They are also extremely time consuming... The more you do, the quicker you will get. When you have to do a bunch at one time, I'll usually do them in a assembly line. I love working on my flowers when everyone is in bed and I have peace & quiet!! icon_lol.gif What type of flowers did you make? What type of cutters? You can get cutters to make micro flowers all the way up to life size...

Tami is correct...they do take time and you will get faster once you learn what system works for you.

I made two roses and a rosebud. The rosebud needs some serious work. The first rose came out nicely, the second I was trying to make it bigger so it got built up funky. I'll post pictures tonight when I'm done. (probably while I'm in awe of the wedding show on Food Network tonight!)

TamiAZ. I was just looking at the flowers you have posted.. They are spectacular.. What kind of cutters did you use and where did you buy them.. I attempted MMF flowers last week and they were "ok" but nothing like yours.. I would love to try making some with cutters..They look so much more professional than mine did.

Here's my first rose. It's pretty small and that's why I wondered if I was doing something wrong. I thought maybe it was too tight. I did break a petal before I took the picture which bums me out. Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
Traci

I s'pose I should attach the photo huh?

That looks pretty good for a first rose. It's certainly better than my first attempts. It's not to tight. The only way you could get that bigger is to use a larger cutter

Your rose is a very good start.

You could use the same petal cutters, but increase the cone or center to be taller and wider at the base. Your rose would have lots of petals.

With a larger cone/base and larger petal cutters, you would indeed get a larger flower. Roses do get a LOT easier with some practice.

Your rose looks pretty good. I did some MMF roses this past weekend and they came out ok. I'm still going to have to practice because they aren't as good as some of the ones on this site!!!( That's why I didn't post them) icon_lol.gif
