I'm interested in attending a Cake Fair/show/conference. What are your opinions on the best ones too attend.

I am from California, though I am open to all locations.

It's been years since I have participated and not even sure it still is in being held but San Diego used to have a great one.  Actually it was held at a mall in La Joyah(sp?)

I am a member of the San Diego Cake Club that puts on the show.  Last year we raised $10,000 for Ronald McDonald House!!

@kakeladi  -  Thanks for the shout-out.  We have outgrown the mall in La Jolla, and the Cake Show is now held in Del Mar at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.   It has grown into a huge event with vendors, demos, classes, and gorgeous cakes on display.   Entry forms are available at the website above.

I'm glad to hear it's gotten so big.  I was active as a participate back in the '80s & '90 and judged at least one year towards the end.

Sweet Fest Con in Atlanta, Ga just wrapped up this past weekend.  It was the best 350.00 I have ever spent on a cake conference.  This conference focus is the cake business.  "Is your business making the type money it should?"  Nicholas Lodge and Jay Qualls presented over the weekend on business branding, customer service, delivery fees, P&L and marketing.  Jay shared tips like how he gets his 97%  sale closure rate on his cake tastings. Dawn Belisle, Criminal Attorney and  owner of Dawn's Delights, shared how she got her infused cupcakes into the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks stadiums.  She also answered some legal baking questions.  And it was FUN!!!  No boring lecturers here.  Jay Qualls was funnier than any Headlining Comic in Vegas!
