I have a cake coming up on within the next week and my brain is racking on how the hat was done for this cake topper. It looks as though the brim of the hat is "seamlessly" on the cap itself. It doesnt look like the person made a cap and then attached the brim to it separately. Can anyone tell me how this was done? Let me know if Im making no sense at all. Seams lol to me that you'd roll out a large piece of fondant and place over a hat. Stuff the empty part of the hat with something to make it firm. Cover hat with cling wrap put your fondant on the hat and trim the excess fondant around the hat and brim and if the brim of the real hat is the way you like it it should rest on it and be perfect. Use gumpaste! Try a baby hat from the dollar store if you want a little one. If you look closely at the hat it's got 2 layers on the brim. Don't forget to do the stiching before your gumpaste hardens. Good luck!
