I've got my first cake stall. It's at a small free charity event with 500 - 600 people expected. Stalls cost £10 and I get to keep any profit I make.
Can anyone advise how many portions of cake I could expect to sell? I'm making cake bites with the hope that people will buy a "pick and mix" box of 6, though I will sell individually as well.
Thanks
I read a bunch of similar posts for event, and people tend to say 10% of attendees will buy dessert. You may get more replies if you asked like"Amount of cake/ desserts for event". Or search the old posts for answer....
I personally, have no experience in it, but am repeating the words of multiple posts.
You did such a good job presenting beautifully and I love your signs. Congrats on selling out!
I'm gonna go with "Wow! you've outdone yourself!". I hope you made some profit, too. Looking at those, the selling out part is not a surprise. What was your bestseller? And how did the pick-and-mix go?
wow those are some nice cakelettes and such a pleasant variety -- the decor makes for some sweet eye candy -- enticing -
so did you make out good on the money side -- not just your out of pocket cost but allowing for paper towels , hot water, dish detergent, all your costs involved , gas for the car, travel time, selling time etc. didja make anything/enough?
Thanks everyone. My very talented partner did the signs. The cakes were £1 each or £3 for a box of 4. Obviously the boxes were a lot more popular.
I calculated that ingredients cost an average of 14p per mini cake. If I add in all the other costs I probably broke even. But that's without paying me a wage for the time spent baking, decorating and selling. It was fun but probably not going to make me rich.
hope you got some good exposure that will turn into some nice orders for you!
Right.
But when those orders come rolling in - charge with wages and profit in mind. ;-)
