My grocery store called me. There's a flour recall on a few Gold Medal products, including Wondra, regular flour, and unbleached flour.

Yes... I read about it too...

A few people got sick with E.coli after eating raw flour...

Something like 10 million pounds recalled...

Big one that. Scary when something simple like flour can be contaminated. i have not used gold medal for years, as i currently buy Wheat Montana.

Not sure why anyone would eat raw flour...I mean even if you're rolling dough in flour it still gets baked. The temperature usually is around 300-350F and E.coli is killed at 160F.

I heard about this on the news last night just as I was falling into a state of unconsciousness/sleep and forgot about it.

Thanks for the reminder!

And by the way - how does your grocery store call you?  That's customer service allright! I don't give out my number or email to any grocery store but glad it helped you!!

Best,

T

@-K8memphis ‍ good point! I was thinking straight from the bag... BLEH!
@theresaf ‍ I have a store card I use every time I shop  (Price Chopper) and they must be able to tell what items you've purchased. It was an automated call but still surprising.

Our Grocery store calls us as well when there are issues... so does their pharmacy...

It is because we have their store card for discounts...

Yes they track your purchases...  but it does cause some fun and interesting coupon mailers occasionally...

I think it is great that they called to let you know about the recall...

And yes eating raw flour happens... I taste test every batter before it goes in the oven... not a lot, just a bit on a spoon (okay, well more if it is cookie dough smiley.png )...
