Hi , I want to make a race track cake . I'm not fond of using too much fondant on a cake. So was thinking of making a car cake pop and put it on track. Is it a good idea?

Also can I mix chocolate in fondant , make a track and stick on buttercream icing? Or modeling chocolate race track will be better?  I wanted to make gray race track.
