A friend of mine wants me to make a gold lowes credit card cake. I haven't decorated in a while and I have amateur skills to begin with...I don't want to say no...but I don't even know where to begin on the gold fondant or should i just use luster dust? that would be a lot of luster dust though. ugh. feeling stressed already. usually i make my own mmf. do they sell gold fondant?

I've never used it, but I think Wilton has cans of spray on colors including gold and silver.  I'd get a head start by coloring the fondant yellow, then spray on the gold and then add cutouts or royal icing transfers for the details like the name and number.

I just did a cake with a gold layer and got good results with the Wilton gold spray mentioned.  Was a surprisingly nice finish, and even held up to fingerprints.

You could start with yellow fondant, but experiment with using black fondant, because it also has a nice effect with the gold...adds depth to it.

good luck and post some pics when you finish!
