Welcome to CakeCentral. Most of the basic questions and answers can be found in the articles section. here is a link to one popular method of smoothing buttercream. If you look on the article page, you can find many other helpful tips.

http://www.cakecentral.com/article10-How-To-Create-Faux-Fondant-The-Paper-Towel-Method----Viva.html

There is also a search button above that will provide tons of information.

If you search for the Melvira method, you will find a smoothing technique that uses a paint roller that many find very successful.

I wanted to also welcome you to CC!!!! You have found THE place for questions, help and support.
I also use the Viva paper towel method. Don't give up or think you can't get it! It will just take practice.
Don't forget to post your cakes!!!! thumbs_up.gif

great tutorial to share nglez!! thumbs_up.gif

I've started buying the Viva that you can tear into different sizes. Less paper towel to try and deal with.

I promise you will LOOOVE this site!! It really is the place to find out whatever you might think you need or want to know! Welcome! I've been here for just about 2 weeks I think and I just tried the papertowel thing today. I didn't have Viva so I did get a slight pattern but it worked really well otherwise. Good luck!!

I type: "cake", "cake decorate" and "cake decorating". I'll make a thread with links to all of them right now.

Yea, some pretty cool things.

No problem. It wasn't hard to pick out something positive to say about them. You really should go into business (that is if you aren't already).

Cool, can´t wait to check the thread out!! Thanks for doing that, I guess most of us (or should I only speak for myself) have never been in youtube.com, only heard it on the news a couple months back... lucky, rich kids icon_surprised.gif .
Oh well, thanks again, I am sure everybody will enjoy that!
And nothing I would love more than make this whole cake thing a business, FL same as CA are a real pain to get licenses. icon_cry.gif

Geez nglez that looks like a great video!

Only wish my extremely slow dial up connection would allow me to watch it as a video and not a series of still photograhs icon_sad.gif
