Hi TamiAZ and MissBaritone,
I know both of you have mentioned patchwork cutters. TamiAZ, your latest pictures are bringing questions from several of us so I thought I would open this thread since it would be easier to follow.
Would you mind telling us a little about what patchwork cutters are and how this technique works?
Are there any good books out there for those of us that cannot find or afford a class somewhere?
TIA,
Cindy
Hi Cindy,
Patchwork Cutters are a cutters that were developed by Marion Frost... They are very versatile and easy to use.. If you go to www.nicholaslodge.com you can do a search for patchwork cutters to see what they look like. I believe www.globalsugarart.com carries them too. There's a bunch to choose from..
You can use them to make flowers, applique's, emboss cakes, you can make standing figures..The list goes on. There are books and videos you can buy to learn how to use them.
What's cool about them is when you cut them you can take the pieces apart and put them back together with different colors..
Here's a link to ebay so you can see some of the cutters...

I think Tamiaz has said most of it. The cutters are amazingly versatile and can be used in so many ways. I think there are about 9 or 10 books. Every year near Christmas Marion brings a new set of cutters and a book out. There seems to be everything from ballerinas, teddy bears, cars , animals to flowers and letters. There are also cutters designed for embossing, e,g quilting, smocking, basketweave etc. A good place to find them is the UK ebay site (www.ebay.co.uk)
They look similar to cookie cutters. Can they be used as a cookie cutter?
They're not really deep enough to cut through cookie dough. They are designed to be used on thin gum paste
