I've seen alot of cakes with ribbon around the base. is it food safe to do that with the fabric dyes in the ribbon? are they some how attached to waxed paper so they don't come in contact with the cake and if so how? thanks for any help.

Am not sure as I used fondant ribbons only so far.

 Guess you wash/ wipe them before you use them...?

 But am curious too know as I never thought of it before...and quite frankly never worried about it either
