AOk my favorite people, it's me again asking the pros for advice. I would love to make spiral stairs on a cake, but I don't want to waste a bunch of cake carving it all off. This looks beautiful, how do you think they achieved these stairs? Looks added on somehow. Rice krispies? I have no clue. Any input?

AI would use gumpaste or modelling chocolate shaped up against a dummy to dry, then add to the fondant cake. There seems to be a comment under the picture of this cake suggesting a way to make the stairs too. It would be a little small to make from RKT and then a lot of effort to smooth and make steps, I would just jump straight to the gumpaste or mod choc.

AI agree, but it's probably going on a buttercream iced cake. Still work?

AThat would be fine. Just glue it on with a bit of buttercream I guess. I only work on fondant covered cakes, sorry!
