Just not very appetizing at all for me. I also don't like whipped cream in a can so they can keep it. You still have to preheat your oven, prep your pans, bake, cool, frost etc. What are you really saving - the washing of a bowl that had REAL ingredients in it? A novelty at best IMO.
AIs this going to infringe on the patents for aerosol pancakes? http://www.batterblaster.com

"Doesn't look like a new invention". "They can suck it?" Holy cow - why is everyone so negative? You seriously don;t think it's a clever idea?
What I meant by not a new invention is that the can they show in the article looks almost exactly like the commercial whipped cream dispenser. The idea is a clever use for those, but if they're getting kudos for inventing the dispenser, then I don't know. I myself like to buy whipped cream in the can, so I'm not opposed to the idea. I just wouldn't buy it because I like to use my mixer (big fan of kitchen gadgets). And yes I used to eat cheeze-whiz as a kid (can't stand the stuff now though).
I went and read the reviews on the pancake mix, some of which were hilarious! I had never heard of it until now.
It's organic and the sell it at Whole Foods
. My grand kids wont need me to make home made pancakes on Saturday mornings anymore, let alone cupcakes, I'm being replaced by a can![]()
Can someone say The Jetson's!!!!!

But will they make the pancakes themselves? There's always something extra special about someone making you breakfast in the morning that no mere "can" can replace ![]()
These people are going to make millions of dollars. Seriously.
How many millions of cans of Reddi Whip do you imagine get sold every year? Does homemade whipped cream taste better? Of course it does. But how many people actually take the time to make it? If you are a serious baker, you probably will. But the MAJORITY of consumers are going to take the easier route and just buy a can of the stuff. It's easier and faster.
That's what this "cake in a can" is.
Of course most of the people on this forum are not going to buy it and we aren't their target market either. Just like if you bake and design custom cakes, the people who want cakes at Walmart prices aren't your target market.
Moms and Dads WILL buy it because it will be something fun their kids will be able to do or they will need cupcakes at the last minute and this will feel like they are baking something rather than picking some up already made from the grocery store bakery. And because the only clean-up involved is throwing away the can.

Hm, did you not have redi-whip fights as a kid? lols ![]()
Sorry, couldn't resist, I get silly when I'm tired, off to bed now.
That just it craftybanana, they love making breakfast for their mom, so as much as I hate to say it, it would be good idea for them because they don't have to make a big mess in the kitchen. Their mom is the boxed, prepackaged food, coupon toting queen, so I know she would buy it and say "see mom, i'ts even organic" ![]()
For her and most (lazy) people with uber busy lives, it will be the next best thing since sliced bread!
Forget college kids and little kids. Half (well more really) the adults I know can't cook and are not interested in learning but would love these things. They are not really greatly different to cake boxes except that you don't have to add extra ingredients and wash bowls etc. Hmmm did I just say this before?
As a scratch baker, I think it looks nasty, but they'll sell plenty of them, and probably to people on here who say they hate the baking part of cake decorating. If people buy that nasty icing in a can, why not just buy the can of spray-it-yourself cake batter? I'm not going to buy any but that doesn't mean they won't make a ton when they sell the idea to Pillsbury. I hope for their sake they have some kind of proprietary rights to the concept or the technology of the can itself, since that's the kind of thing some big food company will steal and make themselves.
