Any one have any photos of cakes starring Max and the wild things?

I'm thinking either to do his bed, with Max sitting on it in his wolf suit (not an illustration, but should be easy to do), the boat (And not sure if I would do just a cake topper with tiny fondant figures and an island for the wild things to live on.....or just do the boat a la Debbie Brown, and put a figure in it....)

I haven't done many cakes, but i'm hooked...... icon_smile.gif

I searched but couldn't find any cakes with this theme.....Mouse sent some great photos that you could easily adapt an image from. I just wanted to say that I had a flashback to my childhood when I saw those photos.....great memories! Thanks!

thanks.
I've got the book, so I'm set for that....just wanted a little help with planning, I guess.

So, more generically......I think I'm going to do Max's bed, with Max sitting on it.....wild things themselves a bit more than I have time for...

Guessing there will be 5-8 people there.....how big a cake? Not the only dessert, I don't think.....but an 8" sq pan? thinking to halve and then layer halves.....but too tall?

You wouldn't have to use all the halfs for the layer. Pretzel sticks without the salt on them might help make good bedposts...if you have the wilton long loaf pan you could cut that in half to make the bed...

good point about "all the halves" although it sounds funny....I'll keep that in mind...

There has, of course, been a complete change of plan, and I'm about to carve the boat. I baked an 8" square, and will cut it diagonally, using the corners of the cake as the ends of the boat.

max will be fondant.

The sails are in fondant right now, drying, but may end up being either fabric or paper, if this experiment fails.

I was planning to use chocolate fondant to make the bed (Max's bed has a heavy wooden head and foot board on it) and may do that another time.

I have NO idea what is gonna happen next, but will post pics if it works out......

well, the boat shape looks pretty good so far, the sails are actually drying and might just work, although I broke the mast...I think it won't work in fondant, and may try wrapping fondant around a skewer next.

This cake is for another complete WTWTA fanatic
