I think I read where someone made a mistake and was able to get a really black fondant. I have searched but cannot find that post. If anyone could direct me to that post, I would appreciate it. Thanks so much. Gail

I use Americolor - super black - and wear gloves! You'll get black, just keep adding enough color!

I do not know which fondant you are talking about, but I get really black fondant by using chocolate fondant and adding americolor super black to it. Doesn't require that much color to get it really black.

I don't remeber who did it, but she used the Hershey's Dark Chocolate cocoa powder and it made the MMF black without adding any color. I have done this several times and it works like a charm! Sometimes I do add a touch of Americolor black just to be sure though. HTH!

I usually color my white fondant with Wilton Juniper Green and get it as green as I can, then I add the Wilton Black to it. That usually does the trick for me.

If its just a little bit that I need...then I just buy it, like the little pack of wiltons black....but if they're gonna eat it, then I use americolor on my mmf.

I believe tinabee is correct. The person who posted about her happy mistake (can't remember who it is either) mentioned that she used the dark cocoa in place of lots of confect. sugar and the fondant got really black on its own while it sat and rested before she used it. Others who replied mentioned that you could then add the black Americolor after that and only use a fraction of what it would otherwise take to get it black.

I used Americolor to make black mmf on my ladybugs. It was a small amount of fondant.
