AI am planning on making an Alice in Wonderland cake and was wondering what would be best to use for the figures. Regular fondant, or MMF? I'm not sure if MMF dries hard nor how long it needs to sit out to dry.

I always use MMF. Make it a couple of days before hand so that it dries nice and hard.  If you're making people then it works best to make the torso and legs and let it dry before adding arms and the head to it so it doesn't sag.
