my OH wants me to try airbrushing, but really not sure if I want to.

I struggle with so many other bits, I dont want to add airbrushing to the list!

Am really wanting to just get better at my current skills before I tackle another.

Yay, just wanted to announce to all and sundry that I have finished my birthday cake.  Well technically.  I would like to add a bird to it but not sure if that will happen now as I have come off the rush of getting it done.

Freckles get that airbrush out.  It doesn't matter how good you are with it, it is alot of fun.

Bunny I'm being thick, what does OH stand for?  Other Half?

Yes, OH - Other Half, I guess I could call him worse things....

Have you got a pic of the birthday cake?

Do any of you Perth girls do the Secret Cake Club thing that's going on in Perth at the moment?  I've been wanting to get to one of their events for ages but the timing is always off for me.

Bunny I will post a pic after I decide if the bird is worth putting on.  It is still in the construction phase, waiting for bits to dry.

Cute cake.  Whilst bub might have been too young to appreciate it, I'm sure all the other guests loved it.

Me_me I wish I lived in Perth.  I would sooooooo love to go to Secret Cake Club.  I am such a guts I would have a ball.   I have never heard of it before.  Hmmm, maybe I should start one here in Geraldton.   Ha, heaven on a plate, excuse the pun.

I'm not far north of Taree. It's a sleepy little place. No cake decorating shops I've found yet.

Secret Cake Club is an amazing concept! I'd never heard of it before.

My grandmother lived in Taree, and for years she used to say on her sydney visits,

"Well, we don't have that in Taree", but it would be about the most obscure things.

Pork belly - well, we don't have that in Taree,

Gloria Jeans - Well, we dont have that in Taree.

Funny thing is, I don't think she actaully ever went to the main street. If it wasn't at her local Chatham Village shopping centre, it didn't exist in Taree...

Miss her funny ways...

Oh, that's such a lovely story. I grew up in Sydney and even these days there is a lot missing up this way and I wish I could shop at a department store or go to a trendy cafe that my friends rave about. I'd love to start a NSW cake club but since I'm far out in the boonies it would be hard to do.

Hi Ninja,

No cakes this week, although next 3 weeks are looking a bit crazy

Have been reading the "HOW TO" here on cake central, and might try some flower/piping from a few threads.

There is so many things I haven't tried, Im not sure where to start!

Good luck on your ball.

For the Aussies, which online shop for cake supplies do you recommend?

This is my birthday cake.  Finally finished.  Would have added more details if I hadn't procrastinated for so long but am still extremely pleased with it.  It's up there with the best cakes that I have made.

Birdhouse with tulips, hydrangers and bouganvilllia

Flower boxes and Birdhouse are fruitcake so I can look at it for a couple of weeks.  Going bush then so will destroy it and eat it then.

I did get the bird in there K8.  He is a bit weird looking but he helped balance the cake.  I think his wings are placed a bit low but by putting him in the ivy it is not quite as noticeable.  It was a little bit lacking on that side until I put him in.  I would have liked more ivy but it took me forever and I just didn't have the time or the inclination to make more.

Chelle if I didn't make my own cake I would not get one. And then I would feel cheated.  I made noises at work hoping someone would make an effort but they didn't.  Told me that as it was my birthday I supposed to supply it.  I told them f... that, I am always making cakes for everyone else.  I wasn't bringing cake on my birthday for everyone else to eat.

Ninja air brushes are a blast.  I love mine.

Cazza, I was dejectedly expecting a shop-bought cake for my 60th since I'm the one who supplies the cakes for friend and family celebrations. No cake. Then, as a surprise, in walked my wonderful cake decorating teacher with his partner and the most beautiful cake I could have imagined. My husband had ordered the cake and invited them to join in the celebrations. He wouldn't accept payment!!! It was a present for me!!! I couldn't have been happier.

Cher, I think that is marvellous.  I have a great hubby but he would not even think to do something like that, let alone where to start.  He did buy me 3 boxes of chocolates and 10 crunchies as a teaser to my main present so I'm not complaining.

That's sweet; looking forward to hearing about the main present.

Your cake is really lovely. It'll be a shame to cut it but then I'm always telling people they're made to cut and eat.

Happy Birthday!
