I am putting together 4 single layer (may torte and fill) 9x13 cakes to form a square. I want to stack another 9x13 on top. Will stacking the 9x13 in the middle cause any structural problems since it will essentially be resting on the corners of each of the 4 bottom cakes?

Also, can I use just a cake board under the top layer or do I need to dowel?

TIA!

Both.  (Assuming top "layer" means "tier".)
Use a support system for every 4" of cake height.

Yep, I meant top tier . Thanks. So you think the weight on top of the corners of the bottom four cakes will be okay?
