After enjoying the results of Toba Garret's chocolate buttercream which is made with ganache, I got to wondering about making a ganache-like substance out of dark red or dark blue candy melts/cream and mixing it into a vanilla buttercream to aid in the coloring process...

Am I totally barking up a wrong tree in this thought?

I used them in MMF, and it worked really well to get a deep red and deep blue we needed.  I'm thinking about mixing them into the MFF during the "double boiler" stage and seeing how that goes...although I did't have to use corn syrup in the MMF when I used the candy melts...so I'm wondering if the MFF would need as much...

I'm probably thinking too much.

Any thoughts?

I saw this and was hoping to see any responses because I had the same thought.  I haven't tried it though.  Has anyone tried this?
