You see, my problem in school and many things in life, is that I can't sit still long, and I get up, and get myself distracted.... with this...I would get up but then sit back down... had to keep going... having you all expecting a cake from me also helped urge me on, not to mention the smile on my girlfriends face I was picturing in my head haha. It felt SO GOOD, when I put the flower over the bite patch I shaved off, that moment, i knew it was done... felt I could breathe icon_razz.gif and like the muscles in my back relaxed. Cake decorating is a liberating experience... I think now that I started off with such a freakinggg hard project... I shouldn't have a hard time on the more 'easy' basic cakes that are circular and whatnot. I wont forget the only frustrating part - putting the fondant over the purse. JEEZ! Almost went berserk and gave up

Great job, fabulous for even a 30th came, let alone your first! For future cakes, there is a little wheel with pegs on it to roll through your fondant to get thos stiches even.
I am the same way with distractions. When I worked for others, I was okay. Now that I work for myself, I wander about and sit on the Internet half the night! Or play on my phone... I was doing a cake Friday night that should've taken about 2 hours, but after I spent 3 hours on YouTube, it was 4am before I got to bed icon_sad.gif

And as far as losing your mind from fondant, I have been there! There is nothing worse than using marshmallow fondant in zero humidity... I was literally crying! After re-rolliing 11 times and adding a substantial amount of water for each roll, I got down on my knees and prayed to God to help me. I got the 4 layer cake done half an hour before the wedding, and had to start on the grooms cake icon_cry.gif My first guitar. The bride and groom were walking into the reception when I got there with the cakes.

yeah no kidding! This zero humidity is nice for drying everything 10x faster..... but when it comes to the fondant WHOLY CRAP! it just tears and cracks... Next time I am going to start a hot shower in the bathroom or bring a humidifier in and let it go for 20 minutes... then bring in a table and do the fondant. That was annoying. And guess what, I even went out and bought the pre made fondant and realized my fondant was perfectly the same and had the same issues, EXACT same issues, with that.

That may work! I never thought of trying to make it more humid like that. I have several dehumidifiers, but no humidifiers. By bakery is 18.5' x 22' x 10', so maybe I could let the sink sprayer go, and stick a wet towel over my fan, and another couple wet towels in the windows.
