Okay ladies, I need your advice, I would like to make this tower Rapunzel cake for my daughter's birthday next month.

So I was thinking of making the top of the tower out of a 6" round, but how should I make the roof? Should it be rice crispy treat or should i just be molded fondant... and for the tower part should that be cake too or something more sturdy?
The cake is beautiful, I"m not sure I can do it quite as nicely, but I love a good challenge LOL
I have done a similar cake. For the top, I actually used a 6 inch round dumm, because I needed so long to decorate the top. Since I used a dummy, I covered it in the tan/ brown fondant and from there used RKT to shape the tower. Once I completed that, I used a small rectangular cutter and cut out tiles, using a 50/50 combo of Gumpaste and fondant. I attached each "tile" using a small dab of royal icing. I started at the bottom, and worked my way around until I reached the top.

I've done something similar twice. I used PVC pipe for the tower, a styrofoam piece for the top piece, and RKT for the roof base. Like mbranko24, I wanted lots of time to work on the towers/house. I covered my PVC tower with fondant and used an impression mat for bricks.

The roof looks like you could use an upside down icecream cone or if you need something bigger you could use a styrofoam cone then attach the fondant/gumpaste to that? RKT would work as well I just think they slump somewhat with the weight of the fondant. Good luck!
When I did this cake, I used a threaded steel rod, and I used 2 batches of rice cereal treats, but after I set the top on, I thought it was too skinny, and should've used 4 batches or more. Just an FYI
I did a cake like this it is in my profile. I used RK for the tower roof and base. It was pretty easy and sturdy.

I am to make one of these in a few weeks and plan to follow your tutorial.
I was wondering if anyone had followed it, and how they found it?
How much time would you say it takes...more so for the tower?
I have never worked with RKT before, what is the recommended recipe? I have read about using butter/marg and not using it? How long to these moulded and/or covered keep for...to still be edible?
Also I was wondering what the approximate diameter of the tower is and how tall...from cake/board to tip of tower?
Sorry to bombard with questions, I want to try and do a great job and i'm a little worried about the rkt and the tower keeping sturdy and secure....and upright!?!
