Should Mexican Paste feel like gum paste without the snap? I had made some using Tylose, and I didn't think it was quite right since it wasn't really hard to work with, etc and it didn't "snap" like gum paste. Now I think it's too dry that I added some powdered sugar to it. I mean it dried within about 3 minutes or so of rolling out and trying to cut it. Did I get too dry? Should it be a little sticky like gum paste? Also - should I use shortening on the board or vegetable oil? I've seen vegetable oil on the Patchwork Cutters site but that just seems like it would be WAY too messy. thanks in advance for any advice.
