Hi there. I made a twilight themed cake last month. To make the apple I just formed a ball of red sugar paste and put it in a flower former for three days. I then made a little brown stem and placed it in the top and then painted it with edible glaze.

I believe the flower is a ruffled tulip.

Just google ruffled tulip, it's an actual flower. If you google ruffled tulip gumpaste, tutorials on how to make them come up. You can even search on here, there are threads which have covered this previously.

I'm on my phone, I tried to copy links but it didn't work.

Hello,

like Lisapeps said, it is a ruffled tulip. Here is an example of a twighlight cake where the tulip looks great:

Have fun making this cake, can't wait to see the pics.

All the best,

It's actually called a "parrot tulip". Thought that might help in your search for pictures.

So excited to see this thread. My birthday is next month and I have decided that this year I am going to get the cake that I want even if it means I bake it. I'm doing a Twilight cake. I've already bought the chess chocolate mold and all this information is going to make everything else come together.

Thanks for all the information and thanks to the OP for asking!

Hi christineCMC

Hope your cake turns out fine and hope you can post us a picture when it is done. The most difficult part for me was the ruffled tulip icon_confused.gif but everything else was pretty straight forward.

Good luck with it icon_smile.gif
