I will be making a cinco de mayo cake and will need the deep colors (blue, yellow, orange).
Anytime i've added color to my fondant, i have never been able to get deep colors, only lighter.
Any ideas on how i can accomplish the dark, deep colors i need?

Thank U...

Question - - what kind of fondant do you use? Do you buy it or make your own? You can buy the deeper colors if that's what you prefer.

I use modeling chocolate and make my own, so if I need deep colors I start with candy melts of that color. Then I only need to add a little color to the corn syrup when I make it to tweak the shade. A lot of people recommend using powdered colors because it's possible to get deeper shades with them. I just found a source for powders last night so I can't speak from experience.

I use them a lot, I just didn't realize they had the powdered colors. (duh) icon_redface.gif
