I am making a Texas A&M Graduation cake and I need to make maroon icing. Question I have is how do I so that it is a true maroon? What colors do I mix and should I make it in advance so it has time to sit? I would really appreciate all tips. Thanks.

I have done it using lots of red and a little bit of purple and black. Keep working/adding color till you get close to what you want then let it sit and it will set stronger in color after a little bit. Hope this helps.

I tried that and it didnt turn out for me. So I remembered reading mix burgundy and red red together and that is maroon. Well I did that too and it was more purplish. Hmmm. back to the drawing board.
