I know how to make the Elmo & Cookie Monster decorations, but my questions is how do you dry them? & Do I need to use gum paste or gum tex to fondant or just fondant? If I use just fondant, wouldn't the top part of the face/eyes fall over on top of the cake?

If I use gum paste or gum tex, how or where can I dry them to get them to dry in the shape of the cake? Can I dry them on or against a cake pan maybe?

Or maybe I can put the faces directly on the cake & just add some cotton balls or plastic wrap behind the eyes to hold them up until it dries?

Do you have any cake dummies? You could dry them on those. I've done that before. I've also used a coffee can wrapped in parchment.
