I would go one little step different , as you are getting closer to the top, I would put a complete regular size rose in the middle. This way you get a more real look for the rose, not a full open one.( I hope you can understand me)
At the end you dust the edges, with any color you want or you can paint the edges with any airbrush color. (I love airbrush colors for painting )
