How To Attach Pearls To Fondant?

Hi there,

I have a cake coming up which will have a quilted effect on it. I'm wondering the best way to attach pearls to fondant. I tried to put a touch of water on the silver pearls but it washed the silver off. How do I get them to stick?

I use gum glue or piping gel.

I just use a small dot of royal icing. Works like a charm!

I used vanilla extract and attached several hundred to the sides of my son's wedding cake, traveled 1 1/2 hours away and not one fell off. I put the extract on the cake then attached the pearl to the cake.
