Hi Everyone,

I have a request to do a Thomas the Train 3D cake. I'm still new to cake decorating and have no idea how I'm going to accomplish this. I have the 3D kit already and have looked at all the wonderful ideas in the gallery here.

I was wondering what type of cake would be best for making this cake. Should I use a regular cake or make a pound cake? The little boy this is for likes chocolate.

Also, how far in advance can I make this cake? It's due Oct 21. I have lots of time to work on it the weekend of the 15th. Is that too early to make it?

Sorry for the silly questions.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give.
