It's a wedding-142 guests have responded "yes". 4 flavors of regular sized cupcakes. How many cupcakes should be made? Thanks!

Did you give the guests a choice in flavor? If not, divide 142 by 4 and make the answer for each flavor and add 5 of each flavor. Hold on... 35.5 or in this case, 40 of each flavor. You'll have enough for the guests to have 1 and maybe a few later.

Because there are 4 flavors, I know that some may/will want more than one. I went to a wedding this summer that had cupcakes. People were taking 2-3 cupcakes because they have a variety of flavors and A LOT of cupcakes.

Try 120 of each flavor. That will make sure that you will have enough of each flavor when people double up.

120 of each flavor? I think that's a bit much. That means all but 22 people would have 4 of each flavor.

I would make 50 of each flavor for 200 total. That gives some leeway for those who take more than one without leaving the bride with a ton of leftovers. If people take more than they should, it's not within your control.

yes I agree that too much. better to have too many to few I say. Not everybody likes cupcakes either icon_smile.gif

For a wedding with 142 guests, I would make about 200. A lot of the guests do take two if they see different flavors, and then there are the ones that don't like cupcakes.
