I did two cakes yesterday and I guess I rushed the whole process because now I have bulging cakes and even had a couple of blow outs. I've never really had this problem and it is driving me crazy looking at these cakes with ugly sides.

They have fondant on top so that won't be affected, do you think it would be crazy to try and scrape the sides and re-ice? I'm so tempted but I guess my concern is when I take off the excess that the dam has bulged so much I hit filling... Anybody tried to do this?!

Thanks Leah, I will try that out next time! It is a great idea and makes a lot of sense.

These sides are still bugging me icon_wink.gif I'm off to the store so may get some more buttercream supplies and try it on one back side... Wish me luck!

I've been using the press down method, will try this next time. Thanks for the tip.
