Okay so this is the first time I am putting an 8" cake plate under my 8" cake and then I will be putting that on top of the bigger cake drum base. But how do I make sure it doesn't slide around, just put buttercream between the two plates or would royal icing work better?

Thanks!

Put buttercream between the cake board and drum. You can also use double sided tape to the cake board to the cake drum.

HTH

Either would work, just my opinion, but royal icing will harden so it would should hold better.

I tape my cake board to the drum with a heavy duty tape. Then, I use bc to adhere the cake to the cake board. HTH!

I use candy melts to "glue" my cardboard to whatever cake base I'm using. After it hardens - the cake won't slide!
