I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of flower this is - or is a fantasy flower? And also - any tips on making this would be great!! I suck at flowers.

edit: of course the pic won't attach (has this function ever worked?!) It is the latest one in my pics, with the purple flowers. thx

I can not make the picture bigger but it almost looks like an easter lilly but in purple.

clematis

There's a three petal cutter in the Wilton set. Use two, three petals cuts per flower.

A "fanciful" lily, open to artistic interpretation.

...aaaaaaaargh....and this site...very rarely notes the cake artist with the images (unless, of course, it's a Wilton or another published in book form cake)

Lily. Thanks for posting the pic. This pic was sent to me a few months ago but disappeared into cyber space when I was looking for inspiration for incorporating tiger lilies. I put in my favs.

Looks more like a fantasy (non-existent) flower to me.

This blogger (the lilies look the same as the ones on the cake the OP shared) refers to them as fantasy...lilies

Thanks for this link - much better look at the flowers. I hate when brides give me pics and I don't know where they came from!

Hello! Thanks Jeanne for drawing my attention to this topic.

The above posts refer to my blog, Kylie's Cakes & Things. I didn't make the cake in question, but I have used that picture as a reference photo to do a wedding cake for a customer at a patisserie I used to work at. The "purple fantasy lilies" in my blog post are the ones that I copied from that picture.

Unfortunately I have no idea who made the original cake either, but if anyone has any questions about how I made my liles, I'd be happy to help.

I really could have used this post about 2 weeks ago! I just made a similar version last weekend! I ended up making my own fantasy lilies out of gelatin instead!
