Hey guys! I'm doing a wedding cake using dummies for the bottom tiers and I have a few questions.

-Do I need to use dowels on lower tiers?
-How do I get the layers to stay put on one another? (Royal Icing, Long dowel through whole thing after it's all put together?)
-Any tips I should know?

Also, I need to do a little carving in the real cake. What kind of knife should I use?
Straight edge, jagged? I need the corners to be well defined.

If there is any advice about either of these topics, please let me know! I would like to eliminate as many mistakes as I can =) Thanks everyone!

No you don't need any support and I would use a dowel down the center to secure the layers.

And knife of your choice will do.
