How would any of you rate the Gooey butter cake recipe on this site?
I'm thinking of making it for a baby shower but have never tasted it, so I would hate to make it just to find out it's no good! Please, I need your opinions! icon_smile.gif

Wish I could help. I haven't tried it yet but it sounds pretty good! If you do try it let us know what you think.

I tried one of the ones made from yellow cake. It was pretty good, but not gooey like I wanted. More like a cheesecake on top of a sugar cookie bottom.

My parents liked it (I made it for my Dad when I went to visit as he has a real sweet tooth).

Best I can say is to try it ahead of time. The recipe I tried said to pour the batter in the bottom of the pan, but it was more of a dough, so I patted it down and it worked fine.

If you're good with yeast, I would try one of the yeast-dough based ones.

TTFN!

I am baking the gooey butter cake as we speak! I thought I should give it a try!
Does anyone know if I can freeze this type of cake. Just curious because it has cream cheese in it.

Sorry if I'm a pain.....completely new to this! icon_smile.gif

HI ElleC

Your cake sounds the same as the one I'm making. I thought I would give it a try.......I'll let everyone know how it turns out.....I won't be eating it but it's for a baby shower for my neighbour so she'll tell me how everybody liked it. (I'm not going because I am getting over a cold and am scared I will give it to the baby....otherwise I would try a piece)

I have never tried a yeast cake yet but doesn't mean I won't try one in the future! This is the first time I've ventured away from just the box mix. This is also only my fourth cake. The other three I was practising my decorating and didn't care much about the cake.......they were all made for my family so it didn't matter too much...now I would like to start to try to focus on the different cakes........there are so many! I still need a lot of practise on my decorating but practise makes perfect!

Thanks so much for the advice! thumbs_up.gif

good luck with your cake..I've never made that one but I can tell you that I freeze cheesecakes, which are full of cream cheese, with no problems at all! So, I wouldn't worry about the cream cheese factor!
