SugarShack (Sharon Z) just came out with a new DVD on doing book cakes I used it for the Alice cake in my pics. It was a huge help to be able to watch it and see someone do it. I still need to practice but I was very happy with the results. You can get her DVDs at www.sugaredproductions.com
