I've been asked to donate a cake as a table centerpiece for our local YMCA's annual fundraiser party. I'm excited to have been asked, and the theme is kind of random. It's almost New Years-like. Champagne glasses, gold and black streamers. That's it! I've been given free reign, and have no idea where to start. I don't do many cakes, and only do them for friends who know what they want. I can follow directions, but I'm not so good at coming up with creative ideas on my own. Anyone have any ideas on a cake that would fit in this theme? I know I don't want to do a champagne bottle, and I don't want to cover it in fondant. I really enjoy smoothing buttercream, and doing fondant accents. I've googled and searched the galleries here, but nothing is really jumping out at me as "I have to try something like that!" I'm open to suggestions!
I've always been kinda partial to this Taittinger champagne poster, and it might give you some inspiration. It's also black and yellow/gold. It comes up if you Google Taittinger champagne.
More New Years-ish could be shooting stars, streamers, confetti...
Champagne bubbles? Champagne glasses between tiers?
A pink champagne flavor cake also seems fitting, too.
Maybe something like this, but white buttercream, a black border, and stars or swirly things on the wires.

Something like this, but with black icing. (use chocolate and add some black coloring.)

Wow, thank you so much!! I missed the one with the stars inthe gallery, and I LOVE it! Maybe less stars and more curlies and dots? I can go from there. Thanks again!
