I made a cake for a baby shower today and it was postponed due to weather for a week. What is the best way to keep it fresh?? It is already iced and everything......

Thanks

GEEEEEE That's a stinker!!
Personally I would have to redo it unless it can be frozen as is????
Maybe someone else had this happen & will have the answer to this unfortunate situation.

What kind of cake is it? If it doesn't have fondant on it, you can freeze it and it will be fine for one week.

I'd wrap the box well in plastic wrap like you would the anniversery tier of a wedding cake ~ then stick it in the freezer. If you have an airtight bowl that the box will fit in - put it in thier before sticking it in the freezer.

I freeze fully decorated cakes ALL THE TIME and they taste fantastic! I just wrap the entire cakebox with plastic wrap and then put it into an unused trash bag. I put it into my chest freezer in the garage where only already frozen items are. That way there is no chance for those "refrigerator smells" to become part of the cake. I've NEVER had a problem. And chocolate cake, in particular, tastes even more moist and delicious when I do this, so I freeze these even when there is no time crunch.

Now....I don't freeze the cakes if the cake or frosting has been frozen once before.

You'll be fine....don't waste that adorable cake and all of the work put into it!

Freezing them won't change them drastically. HTH.
