I've been asked to make a cake shaped like this one:

They want it to be vanilla and chocolate marble. Do you know a marble recipe that will hold up to fondant after I carve it down? The last time I tried this the cake seemed too flimsy on the top edges. And does anyone have any tips for me about the cake in general? I would email the author of that cake but her's is buttercream and they want fondant. TIA!

I find carving it upside down easier. For marble cake, just use your vanilla cake and put some cocoa powder in half the batter. I use the whimsical bakehouse vanilla cake, great taste and dense (but moist) enough to carve.

That's a good idea, carving it upside down thumbs_up.gif
Will try that recipe! Thanks!
