If I am understanding your question correctly, you are wanting to know how to make a spiral cake. If that is it, there is a great tutorial here on CC in the Articles section.

As I understand the directions, it is carved. I have never tried this myself, but it's on my to-try list!! Good luck!

I wanted to try this also, but I didn't quite understand the tutorial so I scrapped the idea.
