Cream Cheese Frosting Stick Butter Or Gold N Soft Margarine?

I have been trying to perfect the cream cheese frosting recipe I would like a nice stiff cream cheese recipe that says in place on top of the cupcakes, I have been using Gold N Soft Margarine is this the problem?? Should I be using stick butter?? HELP!

Stick butter would be better - it has more solids so wouldn't be as soft I would think. I never use margarine anymore icon_smile.gif

Yes, butter! Or even shortening but butter tastes better icon_smile.gif

Thanks ladies! I def. will try butter now with all my baking. Spread seems to fall flat lol. What cream cheese frosting recipe do you ladies use?

I was about to suggest to change the recipe, sometimes its the recipe itself that makes things difficult
I use Ednas cream cheese frosting its perfect

I use Philiadelphia cream cheese, could this be this be the problem.
