Hi everyone,

Need some advice pronto. I have an airbrush and to my surprise the cake supply stores here have no colors or gloss available.
I need to know how to make a "home- made" black color for my airbrush. And a gloss to use aswell also home-made.
Any ideas?

The black is for gumpaste shoes
And the gloss is for the fondant. Don't want to use Confectioner's glaze; the cake has stripes of black and fuschia, it might bleed.

Help me, please txs

I read in past forums 50/50 Vodka and Glycerin for the fondant
And Vodka and Wilton black gel color for the gumpaste (but to do it in layers)
I have one shot at this, don't want to make a runny sticky cake and shoes

for my black i use the liquid food coloring if at all possible. the gels tend to clump in my airbrush. i use about 30% coloring to 70% vodka. the vodka will evaporate and keep the shoes from getting sticky. but do it in layers like you mentioned. not sure about the gloss though. maybe someone else will have some advice.

Not sure if it's the look you want, but someone here gave me the great hint to brush with piping gel at the end. I was able to get a patent leather look this way. It should work on a really dry gum paste shoe I'd think...
