I always bake my cakes a few days before I need them, then thaw and crumb coat them, then let them settle overnight before decorating. I've had some extra batter during this process so I've frozen a few small cakes to use later. How long can cakes be stored frozen before discarding? Thanks for your help! icon_smile.gif

Well, a real life experiment verified that my chocolate cake tastes just fine after 10 months n the freezer.

I had a cake (not by choice) in freezer for 5 months and it was as good as a new baked cake when thawed.

Just make sure that you wrap them well.

I put a cake in the freezer in October, took it out this month (February), and it was still awesome...4 months later!

LOL bates123! Anniversary cakes are frozen for a year after the wedding and they always come out as fresh as the day I make them! (I've had many a bride tell me so! lol)
