I'm making 2 tiers (8/10) with a castle tower on top out of RKT. I have never done this before and wanted to be sure I'm attaching it the best way. My thoughts are to make the tower with 2 dowels inside of it that I can then put into the cakes. My question...do the dowels need to be long enough to go through BOTH cakes and if so, do they make dowels that are 9 inches long?

Is there a better way to do this or do you think this will work? I plan on attaching the tower on-site so it doesn't need to travel. There will be alot of kids running around though and I don't want the tower to fall off it the table gets bumped. Plus I'm concerned that the tower might be too heavy (I haven't made it yet).
