I just do cakes for fun mostly but I bought a bulk bag of powdered sugar and it got quite lumpy so i have been doing a ton of sifting does any one have an easier way or suggestion for a good type of sifter? Also when I measure my powdered sugar is it suppose to be before or after I sift it? Thank You
The weight is taken before you sift it. I think putting it in the microwave for a few minutes might get rid of the lumps, otherwise put it in a plastic bag and bash it with a rolling pin before sifting it. I hate sifting it, it always gets static and goes all over the place.
some people whisk their dry ingredients, it's faster than sifting.
Not sure about when to measure sorry, next time I use icing sugar I'm going to find out how many grams there should be per cup, as I never want to measure powdered things using cups again.
