Can someone tell me how to get the striped effect like the legs in this picture? painted on? thanks a bunch!! icon_biggrin.gif

They could be painted on but I think maybe gumpaste since it can be rolled so thin. I think it may be the easier way too.

You can roll very thin stripes of fondant or gumpaste, as Sorelle said. Or, you could roll your white and black fairly thick and cut out pieces with a small round cutter or straw, then glue them together with a tiny bit of water.

Personally, I think painting would be the hardest way to do it. But, that's just me. I'm not a good painter. icon_smile.gif

I have to agree that a thin piece of gumpaste or fondant is the way to go with this one. Painting would be a potential mess and 1/2! These shouldn't be too hard if you roll it thin enough.

thanks for the great suggestions! Unfortunately I couldn't buy any gumpaste b/c we were snowed in so I had to end up painting it on, wasn't too bad but gumpaste does sound like a better option. Oh well maybe next time icon_smile.gif
