A friend of mine asked me to make her mothers 40th birthday cake but she wants a tres leche cake covered and decorated in fondant....i told her that i dont think that it could be done bc the cake is soooo moist but she insists this is her moms favorite and wants me to do this cake....i dont know what to do.....i have done a tres leche cake before but never covered in fontant so i really am stuck pls help me if anyone has ever done this.
Someone just asked me to do the same and I told them it just wouldn't work. I can't imagine all that moist cake, all that milk, under fondant...besides it does not even sound good. I think they are generally topped with a pile of whipped cream and fruit-fondant eww. Though somewhere on this site I read one person did it and they said it turned out ok ,but I believe they had to change the recipe up some for it to work, don't see how it would really be tres leche then but hopefully they see this and chime in. Good luck!
