Hey I've been using Indydebbie's buttercream recipe which I love but now I'm wondering if it might be too sweet for some...anyone have any thoughts?

I had this problem a few months ago and posted here in the forums, I tried looking for that link BUT i cant . But lots of people here told me to use popcorn salt, or salted butter. I tried the popcorn salt and it really does work. I use 1/2 tsp of that salt and it cuts down the sweetness. HTH icon_smile.gif

I use salted butter and that works really well.

It's a sweet icing because of the high ratio of sugar to shortening, and some like it that way. You might want to try the SugarShack recipe, which lacks that cloying sweetness because it has less sugar per cup of shortening. It's also incredibly smooth and delicious.

And yes, a bit of salt seems to help the taste of any icing. icon_smile.gif
